Mother and baby critical after head-on crash, Victoria, Australia

A mother and her baby have been critically injured in a head-on crash with a drink driver in Victoria's southwest.

Police now believe the seven-month-old girl may have been properly restrained, after earlier saying she was believed to have been sitting on her mother's lap when their car collided head-on with another car on Sunday night on the Hamilton Highway at Stonehaven.

Acting Sergeant Daryl Out said varying witness accounts may have confused the situation.
